Co2 Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing, wrinkle removal, skin tightening, acne scars, age spots, wrinkle treatment, skin rejuvenation, pore treatment

CO2 Resurfacing

The CO2 Resurfacing is used to eliminate signs of sun damage and aging such as poor skin texture, wrinkles, discolorations, and improve depressions in the skin due to acne scars.

Active FX (Fractional CO2)

Active FX is a fractional laser treatment that can be performed in one 30 minutes session to treat the entire face. The recovery takes about 3-5 days and redness and pinkness for 1-2 weeks. The patient will begin to notice the desired results with continued improvements to skin tone and texture months after the treatment. Active FX (Light resurfacing) is ideal for treatment of fine lines and uneven pigment where damage is more superficial. It may also be used for deep wrinkles however several treatments will be necessary.

Max FX

The Max FX procedure is the gold standard laser for resurfacing. Complete coverage by the laser provides the maximum tightening and wrinkle reduction, maximum reduction in age spots, and best stimulation of new collagen growth. The recovery is 7-10 days of peeling followed by redness and pinkness that will last another 2-4 weeks. Max FX (Deep resurfacing) is appropriate for pronounced wrinkles and acne scarring where damage has occurred in the dermis.

You may choose Active FX or Max FX (Light and Deep Skin Resurfacing depending on the degree of wrinkling or the ability to take time off for the down time of the procedure.

Procedure:

Your treatment will be performed in the office. A prescription for cold sores and antibiotics will be given to you prior to your procedure to help prevent any infections or cold sores. You will need to start taking this the day before your treatment.

On the day of the procedure a topical anesthesia is applied in the office to anesthetize the skin that will be treated. On occasion medication will be given to make the procedure more comfortable. Dr. Roham then uses the CO2 laser to remove the superficial layer of skin. After the damage skin is removed, new skin quickly regrows in its place. For the next several days a petroleum based ointment is used as a dressing on your skin until full normal skin reappears this will be 3-5 days with active FX and 7-10 with Max FX.

Protect your skin with sunscreen and a hat. Also be wary of makeup until the healing process is complete

Risks:

Like any other types of procedure there are risks involved. Since each person's skin reacts differently to various treatments there are no guarantees that you will not have any problem or that you have complete clearance of all your wrinkles. Rare complications can occur and include scarring, obvious lightening or darkening of the skin, Infections or activation of the herpes virus.

Be certain to follow the instructions exactly or you run the risk of scarring and delayed healing.
